In The Day

You've always hated being the first one to show up in a restaurant. You could go inside and save the two of you a spot because it looks like the place is getting busier with each second that goes by, but you can't get yourself to go in. You hate going places alone, you'll just wait until they get there.

You watch as more people walk into the restaurant. One...two...three...four.

Right when you were counting another person going through the restaurant's doors, your friend pulled up in the parking spot next to you, a smile on their face when they see you.

The two of you shut off your vehicles and step out and into the cold air. The food better be worth it.

The two of you hustle across the main street towards Fozzie's, the smell of pork and barbecue was prominent before you even stepped foot in the building.

Your friend opens up the door, holding it open for the two of you. You look around the dark room and notice that there's not many tables left. It looks packed.

"Where do you want to sit?" you ask your friend.

"At the only table left, I guess," they laugh, walking towards the lone table in the corner.

As soon as the two of you sit down, the waitress walks over with a smile on her face, "Hello! What can I get you two to drink?"

"I'll have ice water with no straw," your friend speaks up.

"And for you?" the waitress asks.

"I'll have an ice water, too."

"With no straw, too?" the waitress asked, looking up at you from her notepad expectantly.
