“Do you like him?” You ask.

“I’m not sure.”

“Well, think about it. Take your time Ari, and if he can’t accept that then he already has an answer. I know you take relationships seriously, so don’t rush an answer. I can’t give you my opinion on him, because he didn’t ask me out and I don’t have your feelings.”

Ari sighs in relief, a breath that you could feel like they had been keeping in,”You’re the best, you know that?”

“Hm, tell me again.” You tease.

Ari scoffs, “Alright let’s switch a topic that doesn’t give me a headache.”

The rest of the night consists of light-hearted conversation which ultimately turns into one of those way too deep conversation. Once both of you have reached your limit, Ari calls it a night.

The next week, Ari texts you asking if River could join you guys on your study day, and you tell them it’s fine. You’ve warmed up enough to River, and although you don’t know what’s going on between them you rather let them tell you.

They arrive fifteen minutes late, as always, and you eye them accusingly.

“She said no.” River says amusement in his voice.

“We’re just two good old buddies.”

“Wow, honestly didn’t expect that.” You admit, and all three of you chuckle.
