To my surprise, Mercurius didn't just drop me off. I'd been expecting him to let me out and leave.
But he actually got out and walked around to my side of the car and opened the door like some sort of old-fashioned gentleman. And then he led me inside.
And then he didn't leave.
Finally, I had to ask. "You're staying for the dance?"
We were standing in line for refreshments, considering there was little dancing going on by this point. We were so early, the DJ was still getting set-up.
Mercurius looked at me like I had lost it. "Of course I am."
Okay, that had so not been communicated. I hadn't realized--apparently I'd got more than I'd bargained for. Not only had I got a ride, but I'd also got a date.

Well, that sure was something.
But maybe it would still turn out to be a good night yet. After all, he was being pretty nice.
