Well, at least I suppose I got to go to the dance after all. That had to count for something.
As we entered the crowded gym, I scanned the packed floor for signs of anyone I knew. In particular, I was looking for Addi.
And maybe Mercurius. I had a feeling they'd be arriving as a couple... That is, if common school dances weren't too far below for Mercurius.
But no matter how hard I looked, I couldn't find them. Guess they weren't going to be attending.
Instead of heading for the floor where the lights were already down and a crowd of couples already danced, Chance turned for the bleachers that had been left standing along one wall. Several groups of students sat up and down the rows, drinking sodas and munching on snacks.
