A Tale of Two Choices

Dorothea's nimble fingers quickly unwrapped the string holding the package together and tore away the brown paper. Inside was a white woven shawl wrapping something hard. Dorothea removed the shawl and revealed several small tubes, each containing a white powder. The tubes were unlabelled.

Dorothea turned one around in her hands and as she did so saw a shadow pass over her. She looked up to see a stranger, and in her surprise, dropped the tube she had been inspecting. It landed on the pavement with a crash and the contents blew away. There were now only five tubes left.

The strange man spoke to Dorothea, and said,
