A Tale of Two Choices

Dorothea took the hair brush and went slowly to Brenda. She lifted the brush as if she was about to brush Brenda's hair and then brought it down onto Brenda's head with all her might.

Brenda looked up at Dorothea, first with surprise and then with fury. Dorothea ran out of the room, past Noah who was too stunned to do anything. She heard Brenda screaming,

"Catch that bitch. I want her back and I want her back now."

Dorothea ran frantically to the front door of the workhouse and pushed against it.
