Time Traveller
Looking around for some other way to stop the outlaws, you see all their horses are attached to the same wooden bar. It looks quite sturdy, but perhaps if you can get the horses to stampede, the outlaws will give chase, leaving themselves open for an attack.
"You thinkin' what I am?" the Sheriff asks, grinning. You nod, and begin creeping towards the wooden bar, being careful to keep yourself unseen. The horses whinney a little as they see someone they don't know, but the outlaws take no notice.
"Ok, on three, shove this bar over, then fire at the dirt behind the horses. Be careful not to hit them," you tell the sheriff. He nods.
"One...two...three!" You both give the bar a huge shove, and the bar topples over, releasing the horses. Immediately, the sheriff starts firing at the dust behind the horses. Although used to gunfire, the horses are frightened by it this close, and they rear up, before stampeding across the canyon floor.
The outlaws look around in shock, and a few start yelling. Some try to catch the horses, and others start shooting at you and the sheriff. Thankfully, there is a nearby boulder that provides cover.
Diving behind it, you and the sheriff fire at the outlaws. OThe gunfight rages on for what seems like hours, but eventually, it is just two criminals and you and the sheriff left.
Unexpectedly, there is a deafening rumbling. Looking up, you see small stones raining from the side of the canyon.
"Rockfall!" the Sheriff shouts, "Run!"
