Star Trek: Dimensions
"Sorry, Kolgar, but I have to get out of here," you exclaim, and cut off the comm link. You fire five photons on Kolgar's ship and cause damage to his hull and secondary systems, but not much. You can just imagine Kolgar screaming and it makes you laugh. What doesn't make you laugh is the fact that Kolgar fires heavier weapons and brings your shields down to sixty-eight percent. The whole bridge seems to go sideways from the blast. You make some evasive maneuvers and outsmart the Klingon for a minute, but he damages your shields again. You feel as though this space battle isn't going to last long, and you punch in the warp drive. Luckily, you make the jump to warp and barely miss a shot by Kolgar's ship.
"Oh, Kolgar, you damned fool. I'm always going to outsmart you." You read the Hivoth Starbase is only fifteen minutes away. You wonder how time could pass so quickly, but then your mind is taken off that when you pick up Kolgar's ship in pursuit, just 200,000 kilometers behind you. Worried, you increase the speed of the warp to 9.3, and now your engine core is starting to hum a bit louder than usual.
"Man, I need to get that core checked," you mumble to yourself, and see a hail coming in from Kolgar's ship. You press a few buttons and Kolgar's enraged face appears on the screen.
"Ace, give me my batliff NOW!" Kolgar screams.
"Sorry, Kolgar, can't do that. I have some Ferengi partners who can give me a shit ton of latinum for this. Now you think I just want to give up this kind of business opportunity? Huh? Remember, Rule of Acquisition number 16: A deal is a deal."
"I'll have your head!" Kolgar sneers, and cuts off the transmission.
"ARRIVING AT THE HIVOTH PRIME STARBASE," the computer announces, and you drop out of warp. Kolgar should dare fire on you now, since you're right next to a starbase.
"Drop out of warp, switch to manual controls," you command, and you jump down to the helm to fly the ship to the base.
A hail is coming in from the starbase communications center, and you answer it.
"This is the Hivoth Prime Starbase Comm Center. Identify yourself and we will clear you for docking."
"I am Ace Pyrell, commander of this vessel. You will find a Klingon Bird of Prey just behind me, we have had a recent conflict and he may begin firing on me, please send some patrol ships to make sure he doesn't do that."
"We will take that into account. State your ID number and race."
"Ugh...Beta, two, three, nine, six, seven, seven, alpha, four. Race is Nairay."
"Thank you. You are cleared for docking at Gate 17-B." The man ends the transmission and you sit back in your chair. Several patrol ships take your ship by tractor beams and guide it into the gate. Docking clamps stick the ship in place and you are now free to go onto the station, luckily keeping your selling item.
But Kolgar will be able to track you down.
