Doorways
You decide to leg it, hoping you'll make it to the little hut before another one of those kamikazi blue fairies launches an attack at your defenseless head.
You seem to be out-running them and you can see that you are almost to the hut.
"ARRRRGH!" you cry out as your ankle twist painfully and you collapse to the ground in an undignified heap.
"Great! A damn gopher hole!"
You sit there rubbing your ankle, your mind whizzing as you ponder the wisdom of trying to crawl to the hut.
You see a shadow fall across you, but you dare not look up. Whatever it is, it's much bigger than those blue fairy things and you aren't sure that you want to see what it is.
"Need a hand?" you hear, from a decidedly female voice. You just hope that its human as you raise your eyes upwards.
"Oh, thank God, you're human!" you say as you look upon the woman standing above you. You have to admit, she looks pretty fearsome.
"Come on," she says, as she reaches down to give you a hand up. "Lets get you somewhere safe. By the way, I'm Rena."
You introduce yourself and thank her for her timely rescue.
"The fairies don't bother me. I tend to scare them. Watch," she says with a wink as she points a finger at the blue beasties with wings. Amazingly, they all scattered as if ol' Beelzebub himself were after them. "Now lets go. We can head for that hut if you need a rest, or we can go to my home."
