Time Travel

My favorite place has always been the library. I have fond childhood memories of just parking myself down on a comfy chair and devouring book after book. I headed to the library, in the center of town. "Afternoon, little lady," the middle-aged woman at the desk told me after I entered the library. I mumbled something in response and took off to a secluded corner of the library. This library had 3 floors. I went to the basement to find to look at some maps. Maybe I could find a route to some place in the mountains, I thought to myself. Maybe the box won't find me there....
As evening turned into night, I went through different maps of the state. It looked like there were some mountains east of where I was currently, so I was plotting possible ways of stealing a vehicle to get there. I took a look at the clock on the wall. Oh no, the library closes in 5 minutes, I thought frantically. I have nowhere else to stay, I better just hide in here! I hid between 2 narrow bookshelves and waited for the front-desk woman to leave the library. Thud. Thud. Thud. I could hear her coming down the staircase. I held my breathe for a minute. Was she coming closer...?? I sighed in relief when she turned out the lights and headed upstairs again. Okay...now I just have to wait a few minutes while she locks the door. Time for some much needed sleep. In the morning, I planned on hitchhiking to the mountains.
