Sacrifice

After camp has been set up and your wife and daughter have gone to sleep, you stay up next to the fire to keep watch. It is eerily quiet with nothing but a light breeze and the sloshing of the sea against the sands. You are so tired from the whirlwind of the journey, the port town and the day long trek that your eyes are heavy. I should of asked Helena to switch off guard duty with me. You look at her angelic sleeping form and it would kill you to wake her from such well deserved rest.

You look out toward the dark waters of the sea.
