Ballad of the Bear

Gazing all about you
As you have always done
You go down to the river
Where the current does run

You find your old friend
Clasp him close and then
You tell him of the nine
But the need for a ten

He looks down his snout
To his proud black nose
His fur shines in the sun
In his natty cap, a rose

“Old friend”, says he then
“You have always been true.
Only tell me where to go
And what I must do.”

With a smile and a nod
He lifts up his sword
He gathers his honey pot
And his favorite cheese board

Disguised in his armour
He is quite the manly sight
Lifting a cow in each arm
And he towers in height

The town is aflutter
With the mystery fighter
The shops all a’cooking
The abbot finds his mitre
