The Island of Destiny

You stare at the hole for a moment more, mesmerized by its depths. You feel a sense of foreboding telling you not to go down but at the same time the impulse to explore is strong. You hear a strange deep rumbling coming from within the hole. Well, if you are going down the ladder you may as well try to prepare yourself.

You scan your surroundings and see a small outcropping of caves and cliffs to your 10 o'clock. You walk over, glancing a small stream nearby as well. You scan the grounds and find a large sharp rock that has a nice natural handhold while the edge juts out at a pointed angle. It's not terribly much but it may protect you from any wild animals that are roaming down there.

Feeling more prepared, you drink a few handfuls of water from the stream and walk back over to the hole. You start heading down the muddy ladder into depths unknown. It takes you about ten minutes to reach the bottom and when your feet finally touch the ground, the hole is a tiny dime-sized circle of light at the top. You shiver as you adjust to the cooler temperatures and take in your new surroundings.

You are standing in a cavern about thirty feet in circumference. You see a small tunnel that heads deeper underground. It then forks into two seperate paths. To the left you can hear the deep rumbling. To the right, you hear something decidedly high-pitched.

Which way do you go?
