The Heart of Russia
The Sarge walked over and tapped Burn out, who was lying in position looking down the site of his M-40A3 sniper rifle.
"Hey, boy, you have that son of a bitch yet?" the sarge asked as Burnout laid there in the prone.
"Not yet Sarge, I'll have to move foward on his ass. I'll need some cover fire."
The sarge called over to Diamond and had him grab his M-249Saw and lay down a base of fire as Burnout moved foward into a better position. Diamond let loose several bursts of fire as Burnout moved foward near a snow hill near a tree. There he laid behind a tree with just the barrell of the rifle sticking out. All silenced.... he waited....then as the rest of the platoon observed through binos they had seen Burnout give a thumbs up and take a kneeling position...and then it was on...KA-BLAM Burnout's round exited the barrell and peirced the air as it took flight with only one destination. The round was a dead hit. It struck the enemy sniper right in the head, immobilizing him forever.
Burnout moved back to the squad, reloaded and adjusted his rifle, and gathered his gear. The Sergeant had everyone gather for a situation report. He advised movement coming from the north hills and would set up camp east of there while a 3 man squad moved north. He looked around and thought of the three man team that had not failed him to this point.
"Burnout,Riptide, and Diamond, heads up! You'll be the first fire team to do a recon of the area." The three accepted the assighnment without hesitation as they moved on with the platoon to it's new eastern location. Once there, they grabbed what gear was needed, along with weapons. The sarge debated whether to send them out at this time or wait until dark.
