The thugs advance on her. You don't have much time to think! Ayla is stronger than you, which most likely means if they can harm her, they can crush you. A direct attack most likely will not work. Putting yourself in the middle of them would work, if you could take them all down at once. You DO have the element of surprise on you side. Then again, maybe you can bluff strength... yet their stature makes you doubt it. Pretending to be one of them might work, or you could simply make a rustling from the bushes and hope you can lead some away to deal with one-on-one. There isn't much time, and considering Ayla's damaged state you doubt they will start be merciful now. What can you do to take them all down quickly?
