Legend

In a few days the rioting stops altogether and order is finally restored, Father Alberto's fears of Farad taking over are squashed when he finds out that Farad was killed by his agent Daniel. However, the Baron was still killed in the ensuing chaos, leading to the Baron's daughter Ludmilla to take power. Many of those faithful to the One True God were also killed during the riots as well, setting the cause back a bit.

You attempt to help Father Alberto in the days to come, but Ludmilla's new reforms make it a bit difficult for religions in general. She claims that because it was her brother's worship of the Dark One she is going to prevent this kind of chaos from happening again. All religious practices of any kind must be confined to their respective places of worship alone. This means no conversion practices or asking for donation on the streets. Any person not following this law will be harshly dealt with and their faith being outlawed from the city altogether.

(Supposedly all religions are under this law, but Father Alberto isn't convinced, since he mentions that Ludmilla herself is secretly a priestess of Fel the god of Shadows.)

Due to these restrictions, the spreading of the Word of the One True God becomes a lot harder. Father Alberto isn't deterred though and insists that those who ARE truly faithful will be willing to DIE for their faith. He comes up with the idea that ALL that are truly faithful should join him in the town square and protest the Baronesses' unfair law and if she doesn't change it, then they will die and become martyrs. Naturally this doesn't exactly improve morale or enthusiasm among the faithful and you're not entirely sure what exactly that's going to accomplish. It could be just the "adventurer" in you, but dying is something you try to avoid.

"I don't know about all this. It seems a bit extreme and needless. These people are just simple peasant trying to get by in life for the most part; you can't expect them to be so willing to die. I mean I don't think I even agree with this…"
"What do you mean, you won't join us? I know there have been a lot of deserters because of this plan, but I thought at least YOUR faith was strong!" Father Alberto exclaims.
"I…it is… I mean…I dunno…look how about we just go along with the law and secretly spread the faith on the outside when we can?"
"And how long do you think that'll last? The Baroness has eyes everywhere, it would only be a matter of time before someone got careless and she sent in guards to arrest the lot of us and execute us in her dungeons. No! Unlike her or her dead brother I will NOT hide in the shadows and secretly plot! The glory of the One True God is not to be hidden! I would rather die for HIM on my own terms!"

You still aren't really with this plan; in fact you briefly start to wonder if your faith is in fact that strong, however your own words to Father Alberto have had an effect on him.

"…but I see your point as well my son. And perhaps the One True God has other plans for you. I have seen you serve this Church more than anyone else, and your faith is undeniable, please forgive me for saying that it was anything but strong. You should leave and seek out to continue your own way of serving HIM. And do not think your actions here as pointless, because a great evil WAS destroyed thanks to your help, and remember its all part of HIS great plan."

You don't know what to say, indeed there isn't much to say. You gather up all the belongings and prepare to leave. (Take whatever you're currently stashing at the Church now because you won't be getting it later) You're not sure of where to go at first, but all of this has been making you a little nostalgic for a simpler way of life, much like your home town of Altberg.

You decide its time to pay home a little visit.
