Legend

The Church is defended a lot better than most places, so you're determined to go out and actively protect those that need it the most. Father Alberto seems to want you to stay, but he doesn't try to stop you.

Your "trip" to the poor district of course isn't completely uneventful; the City is in chaos after all. You're attacked by 3 thugs. They all have the same stats and you must fight them at the same time.

THUG
SKILL: 7
STAMINA: 8

If you have a Contract on your head by the Ebony Claw Syndicate these thugs aren't the average one and are in fact Syndicate members. In this case their SKILL is 9.

If you win, you manage to get to the poor district which you surprisingly find under attack by ZOMBIES. Someone's been raising the dead; you quickly help the people defend their homes.

ZOMBIES
SKILL: 9
STAMINA: 26

The zombies are slow, but numerous and can overwhelm you at any second if you aren't careful. If you ever lose three combat rolls in a row, the zombies end up overrunning your position and eat you alive, unless you expend a Prayer to save yourself.

If you win, you see the Necromancer who's behind this attack. He's not a Dark One cultist, but he is evil and taking advantage of the current anarchy that's been caused in his name. You raise your weapon to put an end to this once and for all.

NECROMANCER
SKILL: 10
STAMINA: 13

The Necromancer has a life draining touch, if he ever scores a hit on you and rolls doubles he gains the 2 STAMINA points that you lose!

If you survive this onslaught the rioting seems to die down in your area. You're breathing heavily and covered in sweat and blood. The carnage is great, but you've saved many people this day. The people are grateful and help bandage your wounds as much as they can. (You may replenish up to 10 STAMINA points) One of them is a blacksmith and gives you a very well made shield. It may even have some magic about it. You humbly accept the gift for it shall surely serve you well in your future battles with darkness.

Mark down that you now have a Shield of Protection. It will automatically defend you against projectiles such as arrows and bolts (You never need to roll the dice in these cases) Whenever you are hit in physical combat you may also roll two dice again. If you score a twelve, the shield has completely protected you.

While you have saved many lives, this has still been a costly victory as you'll soon find out however.
