You slay your treacherous guide. You were wise to press him further; you hate to think if you had let him leave. He would've been able to report to his superiors which would possibly cause trouble for the Church if they knew you were actively trying to seek them out. The One True God was certainly looking out for you.

You search his body and regain what you paid him; he doesn't have anything else except a crude map of the sewers. Upon closer inspection, he hasn't lead you anywhere near the Dark One's hideout, in fact it looks like he was trying to lead you into a trap. All you can see is a bad drawing of a skull and crossbones in the area past the crumbling wall. The Thieves Guild is marked down with a check mark by it, but what interests you is the Dark One cult hideout, which is also marked down. (Idiot marked it with a big pentagram symbol) You immediately make you way in that direction.

When you eventually get in the general vicinity you start to feel a noticeable evil presence in the air. You peek around a corner and see a bunch of cultist coming out of a secret passage in one of the sewer walls. You can't do anymore right now even if you wanted to, you're heavily outnumbered, but at least you've found it and you even have a map to the place.

You return back to the Church with your findings, Father Alberto is very pleased. He states how more people have been taking an interest in becoming more active in defending the faith. With this vital information perhaps the fight can be taken directly to the Dark One's followers.
