Recently they came to me for a donation, and I told them things were tight and I couldn't spare anything, so instead of being understanding of it, they raided my house and broke everything they didn't think was valuable! Come to think of it, they've been doing that to my family since my grandfather! Well no more! I'm with this guy! We all SHOULD stand up to these bullies!"
"Yeah! I don't even follow Karn and you guys made me donate to your faith as well!"
There's the old adage that if one stands up to bullies they'll back down, which is more often than not a nice delusional thought. Fortunately in this case it happens to be true.
The crowd begins to move on the priests who could easily slaughter them all, but would probably be political death for their temple. This is a city with laws against the wanton murder of citizens after all.
"What?! YouÂ…you all DARE to defy Karn?! The one who has defended you? WE that have defended you?" a Karnite states in the shock of this twist of events.
"Protect us? All you guys do beat us up for money! And if we DO have problems, do you help out? No! You just tell us we should be strong enough to help ourselves! The Ebony Claw Syndicate does a better job of protecting its victims than you lot do! We're not going to take this anymore!"
The Karnites realize they can't do anything about this so they back off into their temple and shout a few parting words.
"FINE! If you cannot accept Karn's ways then do not expect to share in his glory! We have no time to waste on traitorous weaklings like you! All of you are exiled and if we see any of you by this temple again, we won't be as merciful next time! And YOU! Priest of the Weak! Don't think you've won here! You have been marked!"
The Karnites slam the door of their temple and lock it, while the crowd helps you back to your church.
