Hall of Infinite Doors
You look around the city until you spy what looks like a guardhouse. You step inside to see if they can give you any information.
The floor is made of stone, as are the walls, and you see a soldier sitting behind a desk at the back of the room, looking over a few scrolls.
"Um, sir..." you begin.
The soldier looks up at you and speaks before you can, "Ah, good, another recruit." He looks you over. "I must say that ye are quite old to just come to us now. I'm surprised no one has seen ye and grabbed ye. But, no matter."
The man looks down at a scroll, takes out a quill and writes something upon it. He then slides it across the desk over to you and hands you the quill.
"Make yur mark." he tells you. You suppose that you won't have any choice otherwise, so you write your name upon the scroll and give the quill back to the soldier.
"What kind of mark is this?" the man looks surprised. He then stares at you, "Where are ye from, boy?"
"That's my mark." you simply say. You realize that these people probably write in a different language. But you wonder... if they write differently, why is it that they speak english as you do? Or do they? You recall talking to the insect. Now, that was peculiar. How could you understand it? What strange power have you been gifted with?
"Right..." the soldier looks at you strangly. He picks up the paper and gives it to you. "Ye will have three breaks per day. One in the afternoon to eat, another in the evening to eat, and a third break to sleep. Each time ye will go to the barracks to take yur break, and ye will show them that paper to prove ye are one of us." the man points to the door to the right. "In that door ye will equip yurself with leather boots and armour, a spear, and a helmet. Do so now."
You fold the paper and put it in your pocket. Opening the door to the armoury, you wonder if you'll be able to figure out how to put the armour on?
