Hall of Infinite Doors

You can't move. You feel frozen with fear. You think you can hear a movement from within the darkness, a slow crunching sound, like someone chewing a bowl of cornflakes. You shudder as you picture the terrible fate of the two giants.

Oh well. They deserved it.

A massive shape rises up from the darkness. The monster is bigger than any creature you could have ever imagined, bigger than that black serpent even. It's sightless eyes bulge outwards, and its long, sharp teeth protrude upwards from its lower jaw. It smells terrible, and it's going to eat you.

You close your eyes and wait for the end.

"Your welcome."

Your heart skips a beat. You open your eyes. Who said that?

"I said, your welcome." the gigantic beast says.

"How...wha...but, but, bu-bu-b-b-b-b..." you stutter.

"Not a very polite little person, are you?" the monster scorns, "Standing there, bubbling like a volcanic crater pool instead of thanking me for saving your life."

All the blood has seemed to have left your body. "But-but-whawawWAAA?"

"Oh, do calm yourself," the monster reasures, "I'm not going to eat you. I wouldn't have even eaten those giants if your life wasn't in trouble."

"Gahh....you...you can talk!" you finally blurt out.

"Only to you, I'm afraid." the monster give a great, smelly sigh. "I don't feel quite so bright when you're not around."

"I...I don't understand," you say, confused.

"Nor do I, not really, anyways," the beast tells you, "but I suppose it has something to do with you being a god and all."

"I'm not a god!" you say, exasperated.

"And I can't speak." the monster replies, "Would you like me to help you up onto the cliff, my lord?"
"Er...yes."

"Yes what?"

"Yes PLEASE."
