Hall of Infinite Doors

So for the occasion, he bought a new suit made to look casual. He didn't comb his hair. He just got up, took a shower, brushed his teeth, dressed casually, and went to his truck. He was almost ready to depart when his butler caught him.

"Sir, I advise you to bring your cell phone with you just in case you get a call.", he told John.

"No, I don't think I will. I'm taking a day off, so I won't be needing it.", John replied.

The butler insisted, claiming it would not hurt to bring it, but John had always hated being told to do or not to do something, so he went without the cell phone and got on the road. The day before he had printed directions from the Internet how to get to his old home from his mansion. As him mansion shrunk in the distance, his mood brightened. He was free, at least for today. He opened the window and stuck his head out while driving, and bellowed, "ye haw!" into the fresh air.

He stopped at a diner for breakfast, and filled his truck with gasoline while he was there. He ate pancakes and waffles, and while they weren't as good as what he was used to, they were delicious all the same, and he enjoyed every bite he took. When he finished, he left the money for the food with an extra bonus for the waitress.

As he continued to drive his truck, he noticed the directions: drive on Farmer's Road for 112 miles. He didn't remember such a long drive into the city. The further he got down Farmer's Road, the less buildings he saw. More and more often alls he saw was fields of crops. John didn't mind at all. He had nothing he was missing. He canceled all of his appointments and was going to see his old home. He was in a good mood until suddenly, his truck ran out of gas. He swore under his breath. It figured something like this would happen. It was about lunch time now, and he was in the middle of nowhere. Nothing but crops lined the sides of the road. He recalled he had a motorcycle in the back of the truck. At first he considered siphoning gas from the motorcycle to the truck, but he realized the pointlessness of such an action. He unfastened the motorcycle, and got on, taking the truck keys with him just in case.
