His face is stern, and his head is cocked. He looks serious. Your mouth goes very dry, but you try to swallow anyway. Your arms move slowly towards the butts of your guns, sitting in their holsters.

"You really got yourself into a mess of trouble," He tells you.

You nod and he continues.

"I told them I ain't seen you," He says. "But once they start askin' around town, they're bound to realise I was lying to 'em."

You stare at him without speaking. You're not sure what to say.

"We'd best get the hell out of town while we still can," He tells you.

Relief floods through you. He isn't going to gun you down after all.

He walks over to a horse and unties it.

The stable boy steps forward. "But mister, that horse ain't yours."

"It is now, kid. Scram." He replies, mounting up on the back of his newly acquired mare.

The boy wastes no time rushing out of the stables. Your Vigilante drinking buddy spurrs his horse forward and you follow him at a close trot out of the town.

You glance over your shoulder, but it doesn't appear that anyone is following you. You sigh inwardly as your horses gallop off into the desert.

You ride for hours until the two of you reach a shaded out cropping. You're Vigilante companion dismounts there and looks up at you.

"This looks like a good place to stop," He says to you. "The shade should keep us out of the hot sun for the day."

You wonder if this isn't all some sort of elaborate trap, and as you consider the wisdom of hanging out here or moving on, the hairs on the back of your neck start to stand on end.

If you ride off now, you should be able to escape with no problem. But you don't exactly know your way around the desert, and running now could potentially be more dangerous than staying with someone who may or may not attempt to kill you.

Enough debating. You must now reach a decision.

What will it be?
