"I have decided that we shall cross the creek." You say it most emphatically, so Vero will not berate you for following Q'iol's advice.
Vero simply gapes at you, and a toothy grin forms on Q'iol's face. "Good choice, sir!"
Restuit simply nods. You take a deep breath and look at the creek. There's no chance that you're going to drown, but still, there's a considerable chance you'd get hurt if you trip.
You remove your shoes and socks and step into the water. It is very cold, and sends shivers up your body. You splash some water on Q'iol, but he takes it in stride.
You take a small first step and do not slip at all. Emboldened, you hop onto a large rock and teeter for a moment before finding your balance. You jump to the next rock.
This jump does not fare so well. You fall into the ice-cold water and are temporarily immobilized. The swift current sweeps you about twenty yards downstream.
"I'll save you!" Vero calls as he runs through the water, but he also trips up and crashes to the ground.
Before the current turns you around to face downstream you just catch a glimpse of Restuit as he jumps into the water and tries to swim towards you, but gets smashed into the bank of the creek.
The water continues to carry you for a good distance, and when you are finally swept onto shore you are cold and alone.
