The demon scam
You look up at the demon and say, "My name is Lint, and this here is Merle."
Merle smiles cutely at the demon and waves her little hand.
Flicking a furry ear, the cat-person grins back at you both. "And I'm Naria. You know, opening up portals to the human realm is not that easy. Not everyone has the gift."
"I assume that you don't," you say, a little disappointed.
"No, and I only know one who can," she says, flicking a black ear.
"And that would be..?"
"There is a town not far from here, with an oracle who can open portals. I guess you could ask him for help."
