The demon scam

You really don't want to give the demon your name, so you feel leaving is the best option. "I'm sorry, I have to go," you say, take Merle by the hand and walk away.

The cat-demon snorts after you, but doesn't try to stop you from leaving.

After a while, you glance back, but there is no sign of her anymore. You let go of Merle for a moment and look around, wondering where you are. Not that it really matters, though... you were lost to begin with.
