The demon scam
You see how helplessly outnumbered you are. There is really nothing to lose by calling for help in this situation, is there..?
As the hyenas creep closer, you yell as loudly as you can, "Someone, please help!!!" The demons seem slightly taken back by your loud voice, but they are not about to run away from something like that, and they are soon approaching you again.
When you think you are going to have to fight them anyway, there is a cat-like hiss from behind one of the rocks, and something leaps at the nearest of the hyenas, knocking it over.
