Ducky Park

"Watching the gate sounds easy enough," You say. "I'll do that."

"Great," She says before embracing you in a warm hug. You aren't really sure why she is hugging you, but you decide that it's best not to question something like this. You return the hug and can't help but notice how soft her breasts are against your chest.

She releases the embrace and gives you a few brief instructions. "We don't start the ride unless there are at least four people. No one can come in after the ride has started. And make sure no one cuts in line."

With that, she turns away and walks over to the control booth. You open the gate to admit some seven kids who find their cars. The goddess at the control box starts the cars and you watch with detached amusement as the drivers slam repeatedly into one another.

Behind you, three kids stand at the gate waiting for the ride to end. "Hey mister," One of them says to you.

You turn around to face them. "When is the ride over?" The fatter of the children asks you.

"I'm not sure; it just started a few minutes ago." You answer.

"Well how long does it take?" A scrawny, weasel faced boy asks.

"I don't know," You tell them. "This is the first time I worked at this ride."

The fat kid looks up at you. "Are all Ducky Park employees as stupid as you?"

"You shut up, fat kid." You tell him before turning your back to them and watching the bumper cars.

As you watch the people bouncing off of impact with one another, you hear a scuffle behind you and a baseball cap flies past your head to land in the middle of the bumper car area. The third kid who didn't speak tries to sneak past you.

"Oh, no you don't," You tell him firmly. "You wait in line like everybody else."

"But my hat-" He begins.

"Your hat will just have to wait," You reply.

"My mom just bought me that hat. She'll be mad if it gets run over." He pleads with you.

"That's too bad." You reply.

"I'm gonna get that hat," He tells you, trying to squirm past you again. You stop him and tell him that under no circumstances is he to go down there and get that hat.

He looks up at you with eyes full of innocence. "Then will you go get my hat for me mister? Please?" You think about it for a moment before agreeing to go after the cap.

You scan the bumper car area and spot the hat in the middle of the course, untouched so far. You drop down from the platform onto the course and make your way over to the blue baseball cap while cars swarm around you.

As you pick up the hat you notice a car headed straight for you, the driver not paying attention to which way they are going. You leap out of the way and narrowly avoid the car hitting you. Unfortunately you land right between two other cars just as they are about to collide. They bounce off one another easily enough, but the impact of both cars on your leg cracks the bone and bends your knee unnaturally to the left. You collapse on the ground and the ride comes to a sudden halt.

"I bet that hurt," you hear one kid yell from the other side of the gate.

"Now we're going to have to wait forever to get on the bumper cars," the fat kid says, disappointed.

"Maybe they'll do a chalk outline," says one of them with interest.

"No they won't. He's not dead, stupid."

But you wish you were. Oh God, how you wish you were dead. The pain is excruciating, and you don't even know what that word means. The pretty girl leans over you to check on you.

"Are you alright?" she asks.

"I am now," you say, her beauty numbing the pain. Wait, no it didn't, you just forgot about it for a second. "Owwwww."

"What in the hell did you do that for? I told you not to go out there when the ride was running," she says.

"No," you tell her. "You said not to let anyone in."

She laughs a little. "You're someone," she tells you. You're someone. It's possibly the sweetest, kindest thing anyone has ever said to you.

"Thank you," you say in an awe-filled whisper.

She looks at you strangely. "The medical team is on the way, and paramedics have been contacted."

"Okay," you respond as you sink slowly into unconsciousness.

You wake up in the hospital with a cast in your leg including several pins. Your father seems extremely pleased at this analysis. When you get home your father lets you sit on the couch and watch TV all day. He serves you food and drink whenever you need it, and even helps you hobble over to the bathroom when you need to go. He won't wipe your butt though. You asked.

Later that night, while you watch reruns of Rocco's Modern Life, your father talks excitedly on the phone with someone. When he gets off of the telephone he is all smiles. He comes in and gives you a hug.

"This is great," He tells you. "Ducky Park is going to settle for $60,000! I haven't seen that much money since... I've never seen that much money!"

He slaps you on the back. "That will get us through a very comfortable year here. After that you'll get hurt at another job and we can sue them! We're gonna be rich, Ricky. All thanks to you!"

You tell him that you need another soda and he nods enthusiastically. "You're the best son ever," he says as he leaves the room to get you some more cola.

A Girls Gone Wild commercial comes on the TV and you smile serenely, content with the state of things and the censored exhibitionism before you. You have Ducky Park to thank.
