Draco Cronnoc II

"Think I'll go with Lucas for now," you decide after a pause. "Perhaps we can find something that could possibly be a link. Something important. My guess is that it's whatever crime he committed."

"Well let's just see what he did," Susan says as she types "Lucas Esmodre" into the computer screen. A single match appears and Susan clicks on it.

A picture of Luke Esmodre looking rather irritable shows up on the screen, along with innumerable facts about him.

Susan flies through the data. "Born July 2nd 1956...went to school in Michigan...moved to Ohio at the age of seven, and after the death of his parents he settled in with his Tennessee grandparents on his father's side. Enlisted in the army, deployed to Vietnam, served in the town of Graes, time spent and actions there unknown...ah! Arrested upon his return in 1975 for DWI!"

"DWI?" you say wonderingly. "I thought that the government usually let alcohol-related charges slide for vets due to post-traumatic stress."

"Maybe you're right," Susan frowns. "So what does it mean?"

"Well, whether or not the DWI was false, we're certainly not here for the crime. No one would kill someone else because they had a DWI. The answer must lay somewhere else. Check the article for something more."

Susan looks back at the article, but she begins to shake her head. "Nothin' too much...he's had a few relationships...never married. Caught soliciting a prostitute but never charged due to a witness error. Umm...went to a 2-year college, got a degree in architecture. Also got degrees in accounting and computer science. Apparently this guy's no dumbass."

"Certainly nothing worth being blown up." You stand and try to put it all together. So far, it seems the DWI arrest was the main thing in this guy's life. Perhaps he made some enemies; but none that would make him a target of five co-ordinated attacks.

There must be something! You remember what Susan told you. Surely, this man had a tumultuous family life. You know personally how hard it can be when your parents separate. This man's parents died! And then he had to move. Hard life indeed.

And then he probably couldn't find a decent job, which convinced him to join the army. That could be the key, you know. A lot happens overseas, especially during an occupation. Look at Abu Ghraib.

"Yeah, we haven't found too much," you conclude. "But we do have some leads. All arrests, no matter how simple they may appear. And some stuff that is usually better left unsaid occurs during a war. I think I should continue investigating Lucan Esmodre."

"Okay," Susan says. "But what are you going to do?"
