The Black Citadel
Your eyes flicker open.
You're on a balcony looking up at a clear blue sky. Your left arm is burning in pain; it feels like it's broken. Close to you, the sounds of shouts and blasts of magic can be heard. You roll over to see the back of Wiculoth, and in front of him is Zirder, who is having trouble standing, and Vandil who is covered head to foot in reddish-brown blood. Your staff is next to you. You reach out, grab it and swing it around towards Wiculoth and you cast your final spell.
A grey cloud shoots out from your staff and wraps itself around Wiculoth's body. His legs turn grey and become immobile, he cries out in anger and fury before his shouts are silenced when the rest of his body turns grey. The greyness suddenly becomes rock hard.
Wiculoth has been turned to stone.
The citadel itself suddenly shudders once, like a burden has been lifted from its very stones.
As you struggle slowly to get back on your feet, you watch as the stone statue of Wiculoth rises into the air. Zirder is using the last of her power to move Wiculoth telekinetically. The statue moves through the air towards you and you can see the final expression on the stone face of Wiculoth, a mixture of anger and surprise. The statue floats out to and over the balcony you're on. Suddenly, it falls from sight. Zirder and Vandil run over to join you on the balcony railing to watch as Wiculoth smashes into thousands of tiny stone pieces on the cold hard ground below.
