Arena

Torkell. The worlds greatest hunter. Single handedly responsible for wiping two species from the face of the earth. There isn't a beast alive that you haven't hunted.

Unless humans are considered to be beasts. And perhaps that isn't too far off the mark.

When you saw the posting about the contest it was all you could do not to rush down and enter immediatley. This was it; the ultimate hunt; the ultimate test of your ability to survive and succeed.

It was hard not to think of this as what you had been training all your life for. To hunt or be hunted, the true test of survival.

Darkness, the roar of rushing water from nearby. And then a voice.

"Welcome to the Arena, freinds. The contest will officialy begin when I am finished speaking. Around you are your starting items; a pack, a kerosine lighter, a compass, an army knife, two canteens of water, and a days rationing of food. There are 200 hundred contestants in here, we will update you on how the contest is progressing through the loud speakers. Feel free to explore anywhere you like, as the contest progresses we will begin pushing all of you towards the center. No more than four can claim the prize at the end. Every inch of this place is on camera and being sent to a massive viewing office back on Earth, so bear that in mind. Remember, the prize is waiting for you at the end of the road. I wish all of you luck."

Silence save for the waterfall in the distance. Everything is still dark. "Let there be light!", the voice booms overhead.

And suddenly there is light.

You are sitting on a patch of grass, a river moving quickly down stream nearby; and not too far in the distance is a waterfall.

After collecting your belongings you ponder over your first move. The one thing you can't do at this point is cross the river; the water is too deep and the current looks too strong.
