From the prisons came "volunteers"; men and women on death row were the most common among these. The prison recruits make up the majority of the contestants, covering close to 3/4's of the 200 entries. Among the prison recruits are the following people.
Shadow. Her real name is unknown. She was an assassin who was caught just after a successful assassination of Prime Justuce Magistrate Bartholomew, who governed over the eastern region of the continent formerly known as Australia. She has also claimed the assassinations of other officials whose killers have not been found. Sentenced to die in just two months, the Prison Captains suggested her presence in this competition.
Vladamir Karloff was turned away from the mental institutions which had sheltered him when he killed three of the medical staff during a vicious rage. He is a highly unstable man who went on a murdering spree shortly after his eviction from the asylum. He is also a powerfully built man who is so insane that he is rarely able to speak. His massive body is covvered with midnight blue tattoos which give him a look of primal ferocity. His nails are sharp talons, filed to tips.
Dr. Hector Metzger was a cult leader in the remains of the Amazon. He claimed to his followers that the Global Army and the Resistance would wipe each other out completely, bringing on an apocolypse of sorts, and they were the chosen one's, destined to repopulate the planet. His real intensions were much more sinister as he was performing illegal genetic experiments on his followers, mainly with the idea of "improving" humanity. Metzger also wasn't averse to experimenting on himself and coupled with his intellect he increased his reflexes to an unnatural degree. When he was found, the World Army had to fight through a society of geneticly altered men and women to get to him. Eventually the whole compound was annihilated save for the doctor, who somehow managed to survive the onslaught. Dr. Metzger was sentenced to execution, an event which was to take place in a year. But when he heard about the contest, he signed up immediatley, figuring this could be both a chance at freedom and the ultimate evaluation of his genetic experimentation.
Michael Sweeny. Thiry-four years old. he has a wife and two kids.He was imprisoned for a murder he claims he did not commit. He received a life imprisonment. He decided to enter this contest because he needs to get out of prison and see his family again, and this is the only way he can. He has no military or combat training.
