Legend

You get back to the Baron's Palace where the front guard let's you in. (Who you've found out his name is Hector)

"Hope you got the sword, he's in a particularly bad mood today. He's arguing with his son." Hector says.
"Yeah I got the sword, you think I should wait?"
"I doubt if its going to make any difference, he's just going to be mad about something else later. Might as well get it over with."

You head inside and can hear the yelling from the front door. It only gets louder as you enter the throne room.

"I won't do it! Besides you're rich, can't you just hire better men? I know that's what I'D do." a foppish youth says.
"I know what YOU'D do, but this isn't about that. Money doesn't just come out of the sky as much as you and your sister seem to think it does! I recruit the poor because they'll work for cheap!"
"Well you get what you pay for then." The youth sniffs.
"DAMMIT BOY! Just train them how to fight better! Put your skills to use! What the hell did I pay for that fancy trainer for you for?"
"Huh! Reginald trained me in things I doubt the lowly dirty peasant stock that you recruit could ever understand."

Just as the Baron is going to reply to that he sees you and looks semi-relieved to not have to deal with his son for awhile. His son just looks disdainfully at you.

"You! Do you have my sword?"
"Yeah, here you go." You say giving it to him.
"Ah excellent! You see this Farad? THIS is a man who gets things done and doesn't complain about it!"
"Of course not, he's a low life commoner, his place is to serve." Farad says.
"Get out of here! I'll deal with you later!" the Baron shouts. Farad brushes his long hair and leaves.

"I swear sometimes I envy people like you, who have the freedom to just wander from place to place without a care in the world and nothing to tie them down to."
"Really?" you ask.
"No. I just regret having kids! I can deal with every other headache that comes with power, but those two…agh, nevermind. Glad you managed to return the sword without too much trouble, I trust the Hobgoblins just attacked you right?"
"Well yeah, what else would they do?"
"Nothing I suppose, just wondering. Okay, well you passed this little test so guess what? You're working for me on a permanent basis! You'll have a room here in the palace. I have a ton of them, so just pick one. I'll have something else for you to do probably soon, but until then just stay out of my way and if you're going to insist on walking around in the Palace, take a damn bath and wear some appropriate clothes that don't make you look like damn commoner! You'll find some in the bedrooms. I don't care of your social status, or beliefs but I meet lots of people who are obsessed with that sort of thing. So don't make me look bad or you'll find that my hospitality with be withdrawn and you're name in this city will be dragged through the mud so quick that you won't be able to show your face within this whole province without people laughing and throwing stones at you. Got me?"
"Got it."
"Good now get out of here, until I call for you again."

You leave the throne room and pick a nice big room for you to sack out in. Altberg was never like this! You never dreamed you'd be living in a Palace!

Remember you now have a place to stash your stuff. The Baron's Palace. Mark this down so you can make a list of what you want to keep there in the future. Also keep in mind that your gold and items you keep here can't be used while you're actually on a quest! (You CAN use gold that you store here when buying things in the city though)

After picking out a set of "fancy clothes" to wear, and go take up the Baron's advice of taking a bath.
