Your simple plan has amazingly worked. You find signs of a recent camp and tracks; you follow them to yet another clearing that they've camped out at. You stay far enough away for them to not notice you. What's weird is if they've been attacking merchants, you wonder why they don't have more to show for it, unless they've been stashing the loot elsewhere. You can see one of them with the sword though. Must be the leader since he's waving it about and telling the others what to do. There are six of them total, not good odds.
