You climb the hills looking for the Manticore cave, it's a long climb and very tiring. You must eat one ration or lose 3 STAMINA points. As it turns out there's only one cave big enough to be a Manticore lair. You enter it fully prepared to face what might be an epic battle.
As it turns out, you won't be doing that. The Manticore is dead! Its body is wounded many times; looks like someone beat you to killing it. The thing stinks very badly too, it's been rotting for awhile and maggots are feasting upon its corpse. The only thing else in the cave is some oddly shaped large pieces of stone and a lot of bones of various creatures.
