The Third Eye

"Hey, man," You begin, "I'm just doing my job. Tony asked me to make sure the money got to him, and frankly I didn't think we could trust this fool."

He looks at you with his head tilted to the side. "What are you talking about?" He asks.

"Look, Ken. I ain't trying to cause any trouble, I'm just doing what the big man asks. Just like you. He told me to make sure he got his money, and I'm making sure."

"Wait a minute..." He says, lowering the gun, "He told ME to make sure he got the money. Why the hell would he have sent you out?"

"I don't know, Ken. Like I said, I'm just doing like the man asks. I'm a little suprised that he sent you out, too."

His eyes narrow. "Who the hell are you?" As he asks this you are reading his thoughts and a short list of names of people that he hasn't met come to you, like he had a mental checklist of who you could be.

"The name's Sammy." You say, extending your right hand. He shakes it and seems more relaxed. "Tony told me to bring him the case and that's what I intend to do."

"I don't think so, Sam." He says matter of factly. "I was told to make sure it gets to him."

"And I was told, more specificaly, to bring it to him. I'd hate to have to tell him you were uncooperative." You say.

His eyes widen a little and he takes an involuntary step backwards. "But..."

"Don't worry," you say, reading his the concerns that are foremost in his thoughts, "I'll let him know you were here and that you did your job."

He relaxes a bit at this. "Go on, Ken. I'll take it from here." You look into his eyes. He believes you. He lets out a sigh and nods his head. "Alright," he says to you before walking away to leave you there in the alley way.

You can barely contain the shouts of excitement that well up in your chest. You are shaking a bit from an adreneline rush. The money is yours. You can live off of this for months.

Calmly you pick up the briefcase and start walking towards your apartment. You hope that you never run into Ken again. You figure he won't be so easy to talk down next time.

You enter the complex and walk the hall to your door. You unlock the door and step inside, absently setting the breifcase on the floor beside the couch. You go to the fridge and pull out another Newcastle Brown Ale. You pop the cap off and start drinking it, celebrating your success.

After drinking half of it you begin to ponder what you should do next. You feel like going out tonight. You're not sure if you want to go to The Crowded House or Mickeys'.

The Crowded House is an upscale bar that you can rarely afford. But it doesn't look like you'll have any problem with that tonight. They usualy have a pretty good live band playing and the women there are incredibly beautiful, if a little snooty. Mickeys' is a... how can you put it nicely? A more affordable establishment. They occasionaly have a decent band playing. The women, though not quite as gorgeous, are still very pretty and definatley more down to earth. Plus you have a friend or two that frequent the establishment.

Where are you partying tonight?
