What Lies Above
With the sun in your eyes, you can't even tell if the arrow hit or not. In either case, the bird quickly closes in and lifts you off the ground. You're so shocked that you can barely hear your friend call frantically after you. You ascend higher into the sky, helpless in the grasp of the great bird.

How much time passes, you don't know. All you know is that you're being held by the shoulders by a monstrous bird and that you can't feel your arms anymore. You're too scared to even enjoy the panoramic view of the countryside as the bird spirals higher and higher into the air. To make matters worse, the higher you go, the colder it gets.
Finally, the bird stops gaining altitude and flies straight ahead. The way you were scooped up from the ground, you were left facing the opposite direction from the bird. You painfully try to twist around to see where the bird is flying to. Out of the corner of your eye, you see an amazing sight. It looks like a whole city on a cloud! You can see magnificent palaces and temples and who knows what else. In the air around the city you see dozens of dark shapes flying around.
This sight is like nothing you've ever seen before; the largest town you've seen had maybe 1,000 people at most. This whole experience is too much for you to take and you start to feel dizzy. Moments later, you're completely blacked out.
