The corridor continues to the altar room with the portal. Surprisingly, the bodies of the dead dark ones have disappeared and the patterns on the portal are no longer hued with a blue light. Vandil's not here.

You decide to head back to the fork in the corridors that you originally arrived at when you came up the stairs.
