For a few moments you eye each other suspiciously. Both of you are armed with nought but staves. Many of the other helots have paused in their work to watch. Though they do not vocalize it, you can tell they are on your side.
You lunge. He steps away, his staff clunking on your head. You collapse, mind numb and sight fuzzy. He approaches for the finishing blow, arm rising. You try to roll away, but you seem rooted to the ground.
Just before his staff collides with your head, another helot, Tathgor, pushes Cobb out of the way and starts pummeling his face without remorse.
"Thank you for standing up to that bastard! I, for one, will follow you if you try to take over this farm. Elysian will get its revenge!"
