The Bridge

You allow your eyes to adjust to the scene that has begun playing out at the highest point on the bridge. The figure in the distance appears, from your vantage point, to be a woman of medium build, probably in her early twenties. From what you can see, it appears that her hands are barely holding onto the guard rails, and her knees may or may not be shaking with the force of the Autumn wind and the speeding cars that pass by her without even offering a second glance in her direction.
"Why isn't anyone stopping?" You wonder aloud to yourself. It would appear for now that you are the only person in the area who cares whether this woman lives or dies. You recall reading stories at one point about weekday commuters honking their horns and encouraging suicidal persons to jump so that they may be home in time for supper. This is a side of human nature you don't care to see come out today. It is with this resolve that you begin slowly approaching the woman on the bridge. What now?
