The Black Citadel
You're glad to be away from the village. You realise that the evil power that covers the forest is very strong indeed, and taints all those that reside within it. The trees on either side of the path are beginning to thin out now. Suddenly, emerging out of the vegetation three raggard looking beggars spring out at you and ask for some gold. They smell like a sewer and are so nice to display ghastly looking sores. You ignore them and move on quickly.
The earth is stony and coarse and the air is beginning to feel a little cooler here. To the west you can see high white-capped mountains that look like old jagged teeth. A black tower lies nestled in the lower part of one mountain. That must be the Black Citadel.
You continue for a while heading northwest along the path. You notice some frost here covering the ground that hasn't yet melted in the mid-morning sun. In the distance you see some huge smooth mysterious looking boulders. Approaching closer, you spot the giant boulder that Mironwan mentioned, and what he said was right. Covering the boulder is an ancient script that looks to you to be a form of elfish.
Intersecting with the boulder there are two other paths. One path heads up a rocky slope to the north, and another heads down to the east. To the east you can hear the sound of trickling water. Should you look for the grate or take another path and explore and come back later?
