Final Quest
"What do you mean?" you ask with a frown. A chill creeps up your spine, and you remember, with startling clarity, the last place you were in which had ghosts. Is this man a ghost?
As if reading your mind, the man says, "I am a ghost. Everyone here in this castle is. We all died long ago, but our spirits were not allowed to move on."
"I really don't think that we should talk about this with Alasse here," Torai comments.
"Torai, I'm fine," Alasse tells the green dragon. "Believe me. I've seen, and heard, a lot worse."
"What about Rurona?" you wonder. "Is she a ghost too?"
"Yes, but she is a corrupted one," the man answers. "She is used for the evil purposes of the creators of this palace, though she was never evil in life."
"Is there any way to free you from this curse?" you ask.
"Kill the guardian that lives here," the old man tells you. "Then we will all be free and will be able to move on."
"But won't that mean that you can no longer stay in this world?" Alasse asks.
"We do not stay in this world as it is," the old man tells her. "Only those who enter this castle may see us, and those are precious few."
"What about the guardian?" you question.
The old man shudders, and real fear enters his eyes. "It is a terrible beast," he explains. "I have never seen it, but it is said that the ghosts who disobey and rebel are fed to it, which causes them to be completely destroyed!"
You say nothing, but wonder exactly what kind of beast can terrify a ghost.
What now?
