Kamp Kuma

My name is Alexander Steele: The Ultimate Safety Hazard. No, it's not the most convenient--or lucky--ultimate in the world, but it's not like I chose it or anything. Most people don’t choose their Ultimates, they just do something a lot and then they get good at it. And I get hurt a lot. I also accidentally hurt others and my surroundings. Hell, sometimes I do actual crimes! Like arson or vandalism, but unlike most Ultimates, I really hate my talent! I honestly don't see how my ultimate is even considered an ultimate. I shouldn’t even be here at this camp. I could start a forest fire! Or fall into the lake! Or bring poison oak into the camp!

And yet here I am. Selected out of the thousands of teens from all over the world for this incredible opportunity. And I know people were jealous of me, which was odd. Normally they're glad they aren't me. Like the time I tripped and snapped an electrical cord near a public pool. There were a few injuries, but no one died. I did get sued, though. People felt bad for me, but at this point I just get sued and pay for repairs. I don't go to juvenile anymore. I (unintentionally) caused too many problems there.

So basically I’m broke and dangerous to be around: the worst possible qualities to have.

That's why Danger is my middle name--literally. My parents legally changed my middle name to Danger. Just to warn people. I usually wear a bright yellow jacket with reflective pads on it just so people can see where I am, even in the dark. I wear shoes that squeak when I walk so you can hear me approach. I wear gloves so I don't spill more chemicals on my hands. I’m constantly covered in bandages, bruises, scrapes, and cuts.

I hate my ultimate.

But hey! I'll just have to try my hardest to make this trip enjoyable for everyone else! Even if that means hiding away from everyone!

The bus ride here wasn’t all too bad, I just stumbled as I stepped on the bus. I didn’t talk much with the others, as I had fallen asleep pretty quickly on the ride here. I was woken up hours later and groggily dragged my stuff into my cabin, which I share with three others. I think we all fell asleep quickly.

But I guess everyone I room with are early birds, as I’m the only one in the cabin. Which is fine, I value my sleep. But I do really want to meet the others! I figured they were at the dining hall, most summer camps have those, right? So that’s where I figured they were.
