Kamp Kuma

I quickly leapt out of bed, eager to get ready for the day, and promptly tripped on my blankets and fell face first into the floor.

Goddamnit.

An unexpected laugh almost made me faceplant again. I could have sworn I was alone! I looked up to see who it was. I recognized him from the bus stop yesterday, I never caught his name though. He was leaning against the bathroom doorway, watching me closely.

I sighed as I started to push myself up. He offered his hand out to me and said with a grin,”Here, let me help you up.”

I didn’t want to be rude, but I also didn’t want to hurt him. I laughed nervously and pushed myself up on my own,”Thanks, but you helping won’t end well.”

“And why is that?” He asked curiously.

“My name is Danger.” I started to explain,”I’m the Ultimate Safety Hazard.”

He withdrew his hand with a growing smile,”Really? I’ve never heard of an Ultimate like that before.”

“What about you?” Danger asked,”What’s your Ultimate?”

“That doesn’t matter. Let’s just say, I’m your Ultimate Friend.”

Okay. Weird. But whatever, maybe he actually was the Ultimate Friend. It’s not like any Ultimate is normal. I got weird vibes from this dude but I shrugged it off. “So what’s your name?”

“Oh! My name is Doro! Doro Goto.”

“And you’re the Ultimate Friend?”

“To you, yes!”

I was about to ask what he meant by that when I saw something drip onto the floor. Oh. Bloody nose. I must've hit my nose weird when I fell out of bed. I looked around for something to block the blood flow. I turned back and glanced at Doro, who just so happened to be holding a box of tissues. He held them out to me with a soft smile. I smiled back and pulled a handful out of the box. “Thanks.”

Doro nodded and set the box on my bedside table as I held a tissue up to my nose. “So, now that’s dealt with,” Doro walked over to the door and opened it,”Our other roommates left for the dining hall already. I heard there’s an Ultimate Chef making breakfast.”

Ooh. That sounded good. But should I really go to a dining hall? With knives and fire? I typically tried to avoid crowded, potentially dangerous areas like cafeterias or dining halls. But if I’m supposed to lead a whole group of kid Ultimates around, I should probably be involved in camp activities. Plus, I need to get to know the other counselors.
