Reservoir
I feel a little better. I can eat a little bit. I just have to wait and see if I get sick again. Janice, the waitress, arrives with our food. It seems Jesse and Rex ordered me a salad with a side of rice. Just what I would've ordered.
Priyan has a burger with a side of fries. We eat. I feel more like myself. I don't know what happened, but I'm going to be fine. Jesse and Priyan are talking.
"So Jesse, how's it working at the gas station?" Priyan asks
I can tell Jesse is not excited to tell us.
"The worst part is that you can't buy a snack until after hours." Jesse jokes
"Yeah, I could see how that could be a hassle." I say
"And you know how it is Utah, you've been there while I was working." Jesse looks at me
"Yeah, and you have that coworker, what was his name again?" I ask him.
"Bart, and he has a lot harder time of hiding his feelings of working there." Jesse laughs "The female customers really love him for some reason though."
I laugh with them. We finish eating and I pay. Priyan offers to drive me home. I accept his offer.
"So how are you doing Utah?" Priyan asks as he drives "You looked a bit sick earlier."
"I'm fine. It's just a stomach bug." I reply
"Well get better soon." Priyan says as we arrive at my house.
"Hey, you wanna stay a little while? I know we just had a long walk at the lake, but I haven't seen you in a few years. I want to catch up more." I ask Priyan
"Yeah. That sounds good. We can watch a movie or something." Priyan says
We get out of the car, and walk to the door. I open the door and we walk inside.
"So make yourself at home. You can look through the movies I have and choose one for us to watch." I tell him
Priyan nods and looks through the VHS shelf. I go to the kitchen and get myself a glass of water.
I come back to the living room. Priyan is popping a VHS into the player.
"I didn't know you had that many movies." Priyan says
"Yeah, I got a few of them from the dumpsters." In the corner of my eye I see the blur of a figure run by.
I blink a few times "Did you see that?"
"See what?" Priyan asks
"That figure. He ran through the house." I say
"I didn't see that." Priyan says, confused
I swear I saw somebody.
"Probably just your mind playing tricks." Priyan says.
The movie starts playing and we sit down on the sofa. I feel fine, just a bit tired. I'll just sleep for a few hours, and I'll be fine.
