The Mystery
Mary Todd Lincoln turn around and screams loudly. The play stops. Mr. Lincoln stands and turns around. He slaps the assassin silly. He was strong! Though his nickname was Honest Abe, he didn't share everything. The man fell over the railing, and from the looks of it, you think he broke his leg! He hobbles over to you. You recognize him immediately. It is actor John Wilkes Booth! Booth swings, you duck. Suddenly, a gunshot. You look up and see President Abraham Lincoln, holding the gun belonging to John Wilkes Booth, pointing it at a ceiling. Booth is so startled he passes out! Lincoln immediately announces that everybody must leave at once. The play was over.
The next day you hear that both Abraham Lincoln and John Wilkes Booth were both in jail! Lincoln for three months for destroying theatre property. And Booth for life for attempted assassination.
On the twenty-first, you hear Booth escaped prison. He is out to get you.
