Marooned on Giri Minor
Eventually the dream fades, replaced by the sounds of people talking. They are discussing a grave situation. Someone is missing and hasn't returned. There isn't any food or water, and people are on the verge of despair.
You don't know if you are dead or alive, so you test a theory that you might be alive. You begin by trying to move your fingers and toes. That works, but your right arm is bound tightly to something rigid. Come to think of it, your right arm is in a terrible amount of pain.
Furthermore, so is your head.
You slowly open your eyes. It looks like you're in the cargo bay, surrounded by duffel bags and luggage. Someone has rummaged through most of it. Other people are lying on the floor nearby. The lighting is odd, though, like natural sunlight instead of the artificial light of diodes. A gentle breeze brushes your cheek.
"Hey doc," someone says, "one of your patients is awake." And then someone else is hovering over you, blocking your view of the daylight. You recognize Dr. Munro, although her face now seems more care-worn than the last time you saw her. "Get me the stasis generator," she says. "The injuries are too severe for me to treat."
You realize she is not talking to you, but about you. She wants to put you in stasis, meaning you will be completely frozen. But for how long?
