And All Things Will End

You exit the mines. The sun burns your new skin. All is quiet. A gentle breeze wafts through the village, blowing your hair to the side.

A shingle falls from a roof, landing on the ground and shattering. You watch it, detached.

There is nothing for you here. You leave the village behind. You hope to never return.

You travel on, uncertain of your destination. You do not stop and rest in the night; you no longer need to. Your body has been fundamentally changed from your encounter.

After a few days, a large wall grows out of the horizon. you rush to the gates, and they open to meet you.

The townsfolk surround you with curious eyes. Guards look at you warily, their grip tightening on their spears.

You open your mouth wide and begin to tell them what has happened, but your vocal cords have been altered. All that comes out is a series of animalistic growls. The crowd backs away from you. The guards grow closer. You do not resist when they grab you and forcefully escort you to the town doctors, which take a great interest in your physiology. The leader tells the couriers to request the presence of all the nearby doctors.
