And All Things Will End

Aela bolts to her feet; a quick glance at her pale face confirms she heard it as well. You unsheath your sword and stand completely still, trying to determine the location of the noise. You close your eyes and allow your ears to perform their own search.

The patter of footsteps can be heard through the North wall, a four legged beast seemingly pacing back and forth and scratching upon the walls. Hunter's mumbling seems to be getting louder, but is still composed of entirely nonsensical syllables and grunts of pain or pleasure. You focus on the exterior of the barn, mentally ignoring Hunter. The beast has shifted around to the West wall, but now walks with a limp. Now it is clambering loudly against the South wall, threatening to rend the wood to pieces. Then, you hear all of them at once.
Reflexively, you open your eyes. Aela looks at you, her face the physical embodiment of true terror.

"How many are there?" She questions, voice wavering.

You start on a placating response but the lurching of the barn silences you, the sudden pounding on every wall drowining out any words you may have said. They are on all sides, each of them slamming repeatedly against the tattered barn walls. The senseless chatter grows stronger, weaving its way past the hammering, mumbling, and panic to insert itself directly into your consciousness. You cannot focus on what is being said, but when you attempt to draw your attention elsewhere it grows loud and indignant. You can almost see the words, and taste them. Such is their strength.

Aela shrieks "What are we going to do? We're surrounded! Its over, its over, we're dying here..." her words fade into incoherency, and you cannot determine if it is you or her that lacks the understanding of them.

The chattering is overwhelming.
