Killing Xanathar

You decide that you are better fit for a sword than a staff, and you're sword has been with you through thick and thin. Plus you've never really used magic before and magic seems confusing to learn. Right as you make your decision, the pedestal with the staff on it starts to sink into the ground and the ground covers it over so you can't change your decision. As the ground covers the pedestal with staff, a door on the left side opens up and you can see a red luminous light coming from the door.
